More than 60,000 show up for the 2006 E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) conference, which is held annually at Sony Picture Studios, in Los Angeles. Kaz Hirai, president of Sony, announced that the higly anticipated Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) will be released in Japan on November 11 and will be available in the North American market on November 17, 2006. Also revealed at the conference, the new PS3 will come in two configurations. The first offers a 20 gigabyte harddrive, while the other sports a hefty 60 gig drive for all your gaming pleasures.

Perhaps the most sought after information releaved at E3 was the price of the PS3 unit. It's now confirmed that the 20 gig unit will retail at $499 US ($549 - $599 CDN) and the 60 gig at $599 US ($679 - $699 CDN).
